A standard process model consists of preservation, acquisition, examination, and analysis, and reporting of retrieved data is also discussed. In this chapter, smartphone forensic process model along all process is discussed. Smartphone forensics is one of the new topics of network forensics. Due to enhancement, cyber criminals are using smartphones to install malicious software and hack the information of a user or do malicious activities. This can be vehicle mounted or used with a portable system.Smartphone is not only used for communication nowadays but also used for doing computational operations as well as storing information of a user. Once this data is received then nvestigator can process this data in CDAS and generate the required reports.ĬDAS-CSA is an easy to use tool with minimum user intervention and allows users to capture network parameters of all service providers in the area.
Once the parameters are captured, the investigator can export the results out and send the request to various telecom providers to provide data of identified cell tower ids for a specific period.
CSA helps investigators to collect these parameters from various places of interest like a crime scene, Prison area, International Borders, Vital installations like power plants and Dam's etc. CSA allows investigators to record various parameters like Cell ID, LAC, Signal Strength of up to 6 Neighboring Cell Ids along with the position of the investigator. This allows investigators to identify the identity of Cell Tower Ids covering an incident area or a route travelled by suspect or targets. CSA is a force multiplier which can be used in conjunction with the CDAS analytical suite or as a standalone system.
